Youth classes and athletics

Anoka-Hennepin Community Education provides fun activities and learning opportunities for youth.

The Community Schools program is dedicated to student success by providing quality programs year-round in safe, accessible environments to enhance the positive growth of children.

Programs are available for children ages three to 14 years of age, including:

  • Arts and crafts
  • Athletics, sports and recreation
  • Swimming lessons and open swim
  • Science, technology, engineering and math (STEM)
  • Language and performing arts
  • Field trips

Each elementary and middle school in the Anoka-Hennepin School District has a Community Schools office which coordinates a wide variety of courses, clubs, camps and clinics to enhance your child's academic and social experiences outside of regular school.

Families are welcome to enroll in enrichment opportunities offered at their child's school or at any school, districtwide. Activities are offered after-school, in the evening and on the weekend.


Registration for summer youth classes and activities opens on Friday, February 13, 2026, at 8 a.m.

Middle school activities and athletics

Middle school students are encouraged to get involved in extra-curricular activities. Taking a class or getting involved in an athletic program is a great way for students to engage in their school community as they meet friends and learn new things.

The Community Schools program offers a wide range of enrichment activities and athletic programs to provide young children with additional opportunities to learn and grow.

Leagues, lessons, camps and clinics

Anoka-Hennepin Community Education partners with local organizations to offer youth leagues and lessons throughout the year, including T-ball, tennis and flag football. Community Ed also coordinates athletic and academic camps and clinics at high schools across the school district.
