Driver education

Anoka-Hennepin Schools offers driver education as a course during the regular school day for students in grades 9-12. For information or questions about classes at your individual high school, please contact Chad Fellows at 763-506-1455 or at Chad.Fellows@ahschools.us.

Anoka-Hennepin Community Education partners with Safeway Driving School to provide an ADDITIONAL OPPORTUNITY for high school students to complete their classroom and behind-the-wheel instruction outside the traditional school day. Driver education classes are open to teens ages 15 and up.

  • Classroom sessions prepare students for the Minnesota driver's permit test and becoming a responsible driver.
  • Behind-the-wheel includes six hours of driving in three, two-hour sessions on actual city streets, highways and freeways.
  • Instructors are licensed by the Minnesota Department of Public Safety and complete a background check each year. Instructors have experience teaching teens and receive extensive training.
