Honoring our volunteer superstars!

Honoring our volunteer superstars!

Each year, dedicated volunteers contribute thousands of hours of their time, energy and talent to support our schools, students and staff.

During National Volunteer Recognition Week, April 22-27, Community Education recognized several of these outstanding volunteers on social media and with a public acknowledgment at a recent school board meeting.

Volunteers show their support for schools in many ways, including being active in classrooms, chaperoning field trips, coordinating fundraisers, tutoring students, leading parent-teacher organizations, serving food in the cafeteria, making copies, and coordinating projects for teachers.

Last year, over 8,600 volunteers contributed almost 150,000 hours toward developing, supporting, and enhancing a variety of programs in our schools and communities. This year we are on track to meet or exceed those numbers. In addition, there are 150 booster clubs/parent groups in the district supporting students, schools and activities.

Kacy Deschene, co-chair of the Anoka-Hennepin School Board, recognized the work of Anoka-Hennepin volunteers at a board meeting on April 22, 2024.
