Early learning programs celebrated during visits from superintendent

Anoka-Hennepin Schools superintendent Greg Cole highlighted the essential role early childhood education plays in helping young children learn, grow and develop by visiting several of the district’s early learning sites including Sorteberg and Riverview Early Childhood Centers and Andover Family Place.

“If you want to put a smile on your face that will last, make time to visit one of our early childhood centers. I visited four of them this past week and it was priceless,” said Cole in his superintendent’s update to the school board.

Cole got to see staff in action as well as interact with some of our littlest learners. School board co-chair, Michelle Langenfeld, joined him later in the week for a tour of Blaine Early Childhood Center. Both agree, early learning programs build the academic and social skills children need to set them up for success in school and life.

“The kids were amazing, the parents were engaged, and our staff should make all of us proud,” added Cole. “They are skilled guides who help our families help our kids get off to a great start when they begin kindergarten.”

Anoka-Hennepin Schools offers preschool classes at more than a dozen sites across the district. Early Childhood Family Education classes are held at locations in Anoka, Andover, Blaine, Brooklyn Park and Coon Rapids.
